1. Confirm exactly what your package includes
Know your session length, number of outfits, number of final images, makeup arrangement and whether the session is studio or outdoor. This avoids trying to fit more looks into the booking than the available time allows.
2. Prepare full outfits, not just clothes
Lay out shoes, jewellery, belts, undergarments and accessories with each look. Iron or steam clothing before you arrive. Small missing items can delay the session or change the final styling.
3. Rest, hydrate and avoid last-minute experiments
Sleep and hydration help skin and expression more than aggressive last-minute beauty routines. Avoid trying a new facial, hairstyle or cosmetic product immediately before an important shoot unless you already know how your skin reacts.
4. Arrive early for makeup
If makeup is part of the booking, the photography time should begin after makeup is complete. Arriving late can reduce shooting time, especially on days with back-to-back bookings.
5. Bring references as guidance, not a script
Reference images are useful for showing mood, colour or pose ideas, but every person and set photographs differently. Give the photographer room to adapt the concept to your features, outfit and available light.
6. Expect direction
You do not need to know how to pose. A professional session should include guidance on body angle, hands, facial expression and movement. Relax, follow the direction and allow enough frames for natural expressions to develop.
